Behind the film
The brief
In 2016, a team of longtime Assassin’s Creed players set out to make a live-action film that combined the game’s parkour with Taiwanese landscapes. HoneyCity led concept development, action staging, direction, shooting and post-production.
Film concept
We scouted Xinshe Castle and Qingjing Farm for spaces that echoed the game’s European settings. The sequence draws on rooftop running, wall climbs and the Leap of Faith. The challenge was to make those moves recognizable while giving the performers a safe route.
On set
Location scouting informed the choreography, including the changes in level around Jiufen. The crew worked with specialist prop makers on weapons that would read on camera and hold up during a performance.
