Behind the film
The brief
Taitung County Government began hosting the Taiwan International Balloon Festival at Luye Highland in 2011. Its 2018 attendance topped 900,000. HoneyCity planned and directed this tourism film, coordinated the field crews, and edited and graded the footage.
Film concept
Dawn launches, dusk and nighttime events give the film its structure. Wide aerial views establish the scale, while the ground camera stays with families, friends and couples looking up at the balloons.
On set
The crews arrived before daylight and worked to the launch schedule. Drone filming was restricted by flight-safety rules, so the team also arranged permission to film aboard a balloon. That gave us an aerial perspective while the ground unit followed the spectators.
